Design Notes

We chose to omit the immunoglobulin like C2-type domain of sIL-6R (aa 26-114) since we at that point in time thought we would not need it since it did not directly interact with IL-6 and did not seem to impact folding of the other domains. We later learned, that the domain might play a role in transport through the secretory pathway (PMID: 10406952), thus the absence of this domain may partly explain the subcellular localization that we observed using flouresence confocal microscopy

The part is composed of fragments of genomic sequences from S. cerevisiae, H. sapiens, E. coli and the viral genome of Herpes simplex virus.
